Planning to fly a drone during the FIFA World Cup 2026? The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has just released a list of locations where that could become a very expensive mistake, with unauthorized operators facing penalties of up to $100,000 and possible criminal prosecution.

Though as soul-obliterating as the outcome of Sunday’s World Cup final in Qatar was to France fans around the globe, it provided millions across the otherwise suffering Argentina cause for unchecked joy and celebration – some of which was captured in an arresting drone video filmed in Buenos Aires.

French officials have echoed concerns expressed last week by the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) about the emerging threat of drones in attacks by terrorists or other malevolent forces against major events like the US Super Bowl, World Series, or the World Cup of soccer whose current edition opened Sunday in Qatar.

Honduras coach Jorge Luis Pinto claims that the Australian team is using drone tactics to spy on the Honduran team during their practice session on Wednesday ahead of crucial World Cup qualifier. Both teams are trying to secure their spot in the World Cup that will take place in Russia next summer.
